Wheels in Motion was set up in 1999 by a group of local, enthusiastic skaters to promote skating as a safe, healthy, fun activity - available to all ages and abilities.   It began by providing free ‘public workshops’ around the local area with qualified instructors, and borrowed equipment, to give the public an opportunity to ‘have a go.’   A large outdoor event was then staged along Weymouth Seafront in June 2000 as a ‘Millennium Celebration’ to bring all seven skating disciplines to the public. They were roller hockey, artistic, freestyle, dance, speed, recreational and extreme skating.

Through the generous funding of the above organisations ‘The Wheels in Motion Skate School’ evolved and can now provide a large amount of equipment for the public to use and try out.  Qualified International Inline Skating Instructors are available to give help, guidance and instruction when required.   The Wheels in Motion Skate School now has a permanent base in Weymouth Sports Club, Dorchester Road, Weymouth. Tele: 01305-813113.
