PROTECTIVE   EQUIPMENT

Protective equipment is an essential part of inline skating.  Why take risks of injury when they’re avoidable?  The absence of safety gear will guarantee lots of missing skin, grazes, broken bones or even a serious (if not fatal) head injury.  It’s just not worth the risk.

HELMET

A helmet is probably the least liked fashion item but, just for a moment, imagine a semi-boiled egg dropping to the floor and smashing – that could be your head – totally scrambled and only fit for the bin - loony, rubbish, or otherwise!

There are some great helmet designs out now in exciting colours and patterns – modern, lightweight, streamlined styles that look very racy and are cool to wear.

WEAR A HELMET WITH PRIDE!       *     custom design it with stickers

*     airbrush a work of art on it

*     be noticed!

*     be fun loving and outrageous!

*     be admired for wearing it

It’s great to feel the wind through your hair, but on skates,  a helmet IS the business!   A fall during a recent trip to Paris to take part in the ‘Friday Night Skate’ whilst surrounded by 18,000 other skaters proved it to me.   Someone was sure to take a tumble, and I did – big time!  I landed on my back with my head rebounding heavily off the road several times.  I can confidently state, I would not be here now, if I had not been wearing a helmet.  Hindsight is a great thing and puts the small matter of ‘do I look silly?’ into perspective.  I kissed the ground I fell on I can tell you!

Wrist guards

These not only stop you breaking your wrists or losing the skin on your hands (painful!) but they also help to disperse the full impact of a fall.   We instinctively put our hands out toward the ground to stop ourselves from falling, so they touch the ground first – the wrist guards protect your wrists and hands and spare you a lot of agony.  There are many designs available now in all price ranges from wrap arounds to pull-on’s.

Elbow and knee pads

Remember childhood grazes and scabs on scabs?   Do you really want to put yourself through that torture again?

These pads are designed to be user-friendly and to PROTECT you.  They are available in wrap around or pull-on styles and are more streamlined, lightweight and airy than ever.   They can be washed and dried very quickly.  A small spray of anti-bax on the inside of your pads and skate boots will keep them fresh and virtually odour-free.

Prices vary from budget start-up packs of wrist guards, elbow and knee-pads for under £20 to top of the range designs, bought in separate packs so you can mix the size requirements if necessary.
